NZ Book publishers, Craigs Design & Print NZ

From black and white booklets to fully-fledged full colour casebound coffee table books, Craigs has decades of experience in printing, publishing and producing books. Our staff are highly skilled at guiding authors through the rigorous process of book production and provide talented design and layout services.

We are recognised nationally as reputable book publishers of historical, district, sporting and specialist subject content and have received a number of awards for titles produced over the years.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PUBLISHING AND PRINTING?

The publisher is ultimately responsible for the financial and commerical performance of the book. The publisher pays for the printing  and is responsible for the selling of the book, the marketing and publicity as well as the distribution. It is also the publisher’s responsibility to deal with any issues to do with defamation or copyright. The printer simply prints the book.

Craigs does not publish the majority of books that we print. Many of the books are district or family histories and are published by a book committee. Other books are mostly published by the author. Craigs steps in when we can see the book has a sure market because of topic or because the authors are well-known. It takes a while for profits to come in; this doesn’t happen until the book sales overtake what has been paid for the production.
